Saturday, May 10th ~ 7:48pm ... NEW Eye-Candy Added to the gallery!

Hi all! Well, I finally added that fourth page to the gallery so there's 32 more pieces of eye-candy for you to chew on! Some of these new beads are available in my Etsy shop and as always, any beads you see on my site can be made custom to order, just fire me off an email to let me know what you'd like!

Exciting news... (well, I'm excited about it!)
I'm going to the Bead & Button Show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin! It'll be my first time attending the show and I am so looking forward to meeting so many other lampwork artists and lampwork suppliers that I've communicated with through email for so many years!

I'm leaving June 5th (which conveniently is my birthday!) and I'll be mainly shopping at the Bead Marketplace for three days straight and coming back after the closing of the show on June 9th! I'll also be attending the Bead Social on the Saturday night (June 7th), which hosts both silent and live auctions of all things beady and there's coffee and cake to munch on too! I'll have tons of photos to share with you when I get back, I'm sure!

Another bit of news ... it's still just over a month away, but I thought I'd let you all know early ... I'll be at the Toronto Bead Society's Annual Garage Sale meeting on Wednesday June 11th! I'll have a ton of beads there available for purchase and EVERYTHING WILL BE 20% OFF! So for all you jewelry designers out there and bead collectors ... you won't want to miss it! All details on my shows page! Signing off for now. Hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day tomorrow and that you all take some time to do something that YOU want to do!

~Erin

Sunday, May 4th ~ 2:50pm

A big thank you goes out to all who came and visited me at the show yesterday! It was a great day (getting in and out of the pouring rain) and it was a lot of fun! Good to see so many familiar faces at all the bead shows! It was also great to see quite a few of you wearing my beads that you had bought in the past ... there were a lot of great designs out there! Just a reminder that if you'd like to see your designs featured on my website on my new Customer Gallery page, please send me some photos of your work! It's always great to see what you all have done with my lampwork beads! Thanks to Beth Ann for sharing her wonderful creation with us (check out the gallery page here). A note to those of you who placed a custom order at the show; all orders will be complete and mailed by this Saturday, May 10th. Thanks again for your orders everyone!

I hope to be able to add my fourth gallery page of eye-candy before the end of the week! I thought I'd get to it before the end of last week, but last minute prep work for the show had me busier than I originally planned, sorry guys! Check back soon!

And again, the news most of you are probably anticipating ...
the results of the draw for signing up for my newsletter at the show!

The winner is ... SherLin of Toronto!
Thank you to all who signed up, and I'll keep you posted on other news, events, sales and more!
Enjoy these beads SherLin!

For your chance to win more free beads each month, all you have to do if vote for my website on both Artzee and Top25! See all the details on my home page! Good luck and thanks for voting! As with all shows, I have a lot of unpacking and re-organzing to do in my studio yet again.

Before I get to the dreaded studio clean-up, I think I'll let our duck that likes to chill out in our yet-to-be-opened pool amuse me for a short while! He usually has his female friend with him, but she hasn't been around in a few days. Perhaps they had a fight?! They both usually arrive mid-April of every year and they tend to leave us when the chlorine in the pool gets to be too much for their little bottoms!

He's just having fun, hanging out.
Oops, he sees me take his picture!
Oh nuts! I scared him away!

I'll be back in the next few days with that updated gallery page! Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Thursday, May 1st ~ 2:09pm

Is it really May already? April just seemed as though it swiftly passed by, leaving me with no real memorable news aside from the fact that my favourite Survivor "Ozzy" was voted out of the game two episodes ago. <sniff sniff> Such a shame, as I was really rootin' for him to take home the million (which he should of done the first time around on Survivor: Cook Islands, but for some reason unknown to me the thickheaded jury voted for Yul to win instead of Ozzy) ... ok, sorry, this is me just rambling in rage now! Anyway, that was the highlight (or more the disappointment) of April for me! I'm excited to see who gets kicked off the island tonight!

After Survivor's over, I'll be loading up the car tonight for my Toronto Bead Society show on Saturday. It's a great show with lots of fun beady things, so if you're looking for something to do Saturday between the hours of 10am and 5pm, come on by! Hope to see you there!

And finally ... the winner of the April draw for voting for my site is (drum roll please...)
Sasha P. from Toronto, Ontario!

Thank you for voting for my site everyday Sasha! Send me your mailing address and I'll mail you your free vessel pendant (which you can see at the bottom of my home page!) Good luck to all for the May draw! Hope to see you Saturday at the show!

Friday, April 18th ~ 12:36am

Whoa, seems as though the past two weeks have just flown by! I guess I've been having too much fun working on some new things at the torch (which you'll be able to see in an updated gallery within a few days!) I have a few more ideas blooming ... both in some new bead designs and in a TOP SECRET PROJECT that rest assured will take me months and months to complete! So, you'll all have to be patient on that one! LOL!

Now that the Spring issue of The Flow magazine is available for purchase, I've posted a full-size readable version of the article on my Glasscraft Emerging Artist Award! You can read the article here, and if you'd like to purchase the magazine, you can do so here. There's tons of other great articles, tutorials and interviews with other Canadian lampwork artists!

Well, it's been two full weeks since my last update, but honestly, there's not much else going on. I plan to spend a majority of this weekend at the torch and firmly diving into the pen-on-paper planning stage for my secret project! It's getting late (...errr, early rather) so signing off for now. Until next time, have fun and enjoy this great weather we're having! Ciao.

.... NEW ready-to-wear pendant on eBay!

Just dropped by to lay a new eBay auction on you! I really like this focal bead pendant, the bold bright colours and dichroic shimmer! If you're headed to somewhere exotic this summer, you'll wanna check this one out here.

Gotta head down to the torch, the entire morning seems to have slipped away from me already! I'll be back next week with more beads on Etsy so be sure to check back!

Thanks for checking in!

Tuesday, April 1st ~ 10:27am

Happy April everyone! It's a dark and grungy day here today with the April rain coming down and melting away all the snow, only to expose muddy pits and left-over autumn leaves that were never picked up. Yuck! I just can't wait for "real" Spring to be here, when the snow has completely disappeared and the spring flowers begin to sprout putting some colour back into life!

Speaking of Spring, I just found out that I'm published in the new Spring issue of The Flow Magazine! The issue isn't available on stands yet but will be in a few days! Here's a sneak peek of the article on me! I was chosen to receive the Glasscraft Emerging Artist Award! The GEAA will be awarded to growing flameworking artists who have demonstrated outstanding skill and who have contributed to the lampworking community through technical and artistic innovation. The award is given to twelve lampworking artists a year, one of which will become the Glasscraft Emerging Artist of the Year! It would be an honour to win such an award, so thank you in advance for your nominations! It's greatly appreciated!

Nominations can be made by anyone, whether artists, collectors or galleries, so if you like my work, please nominate me to win GEAA of 2008 by emailing the magazine here,

or you can mail a letter to:
Glasscraft Emerging Artist Award
c/o The Flow
PO Box 125
Marietta, TX 75566.

I know it's April Fool's Day, but I kid you not ...

The winner of the March draw for free bead(s) is Lisa from Georgia, U.S.A! Congratulations Lisa and thanks for voting for my site everyday! Thanks to all who voted and good luck for the April draw!
Please see my home page for a photo of what Lisa has won!

Well, I'm off to make some beads! I just got a shipment in of some new "gadgets" to incorporate into my beads, so stay tuned for some new stuff! I'm always excited when I get to experiment with new things on the torch! Only a couple of days left on my eBay auctions, so if you haven't had a chance yet, scoot on over to eBay to check out my new bead series! I'll be back again soon with high hopes of listing some new beads on Etsy! Thanks for checking in.

Sunday, March 30th ~ 1:12pm .... NEW series of beads!

Hi all! Hope your weekend didn't escape past you too quickly and that it was an enjoyable one! Mine, although busy, went very well. Once again the beadFX Lampworkers Trunk show was a great success and a ton of fun! Thank you to all those who came out to visit! And again, I'm sure you're all wondering who the lucky winner of the free beads is, just for signing up for my mailing list at the show!
Well, the lucky winner is ... Andrea W. of Toronto! Congratulations Andrea!

If you didn't make it to the show yesterday, you can catch a new series of beads I'm making available on eBay. They're a lot of fun to create and I think they're really beautiful and unique, I hope you like them!

I'm off to grab a bit of lunch before heading down to the torch. I have a few custom orders I need to get out early in the week as well as a few new glass colours I'm looking forward to experimenting with! I'll be back again in a few days. Thanks for stopping by.

~Erin

Tuesday, March 25th ~ 10:19pm .... NEW beads on eBay!

Just a brief update before I head off to bed ...
I wanted to let you all know about the new beads just listed on eBay! A bit of a different twist to a signature bead series of mine, I hope you'll check 'em out here! Please note that this auction is only a 3-day auction as opposed to my regular 5-day, so it ends early Friday evening EST, March 28th! Other than that, no other exciting news today. It's been a cold, damp and rainy day here and I'm really looking forward to just crawling into my nice warm bed for a good night sleep!

P.S. Don't forget ... only 6 more days for your chance to win the FREE beads for the March draw! Just vote for my site on my home page for your chance to win!

Nite nite.

Monday, March 17th ~ 1:16pm

Happy Saint Patty's Day! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! My weekend went great at the Canadian Bead Oasis show! The show was a great success and a lot of fun too! I want to thank all of you who came out to visit! If you didn't get a chance to come to the show, or perhaps you had you're eye on something and just never got back around to snap it up, you can see some of the beads that were at the show available for purchase in my Etsy shop! Now is your chance to grab it before it's gone! I noticed that there were a lot of jewelry designers at the show, looking for creative one-of-a-kind beads for their Spring and Summer collections!

I invite you to take a peek at my Colour Forecast page for the seasons hottest colour trends and remember that I'd be more than happy to custom create unique beads for you in whichever colour scheme or shape or style that you have in mind! Just send me an email with your ideas! While on the subject of custom ideas, I had many requests for some more whimsical-coloured bone beads, unlike my usual antiqued ivory colour, so I will have a whole new line of bone beads available at the beadFX Lampworkers Trunk Show on March 29th! If you bought some of my lampwork beads and you've created any kind of finished jewelry or other project using my beads, I'd love to see your creations! Just send me some photos of your work and I will feature your design on my Customer Gallery page!

And now, the winner of the free set of lampwork beads for signing up for my mailing list at the show
..... is ...... Stephanie B. of Burlington, ON! Congratulations Stephanie!

For your chance to win more free beads each month, all you have to do if vote for my website on both Artzee and Top25! See all the details on my home page! Good luck and thanks for voting!

Well, I still have a lot of unpacking and re-organzing to do in my studio, and I have a few custom order beads I need to make today so I better get started before it seems my entire day has slipped away from me! I'll be pretty busy for the next couple of weeks making more beads for the beadFX Trunk Show, so I'll most likely be back with another update after the show! Hope to see all of you there again! Thanks for checking in.

Wednesday, March 12th ~ 1:58pm

Hi there! Just a quick post-and-run here today as I scramble around getting last minute things together for my big show this weekend! I've been feeling just awful this past week with a really bad case of strep throat so I can't help but feel a bit behind in things! No worries, I'm back to feeling like my old self now and I'm ready to start packing up for the weekend Oasis show! I will be away for the show, leaving tomorrow afternoon and I won't be returning back home until late Sunday night. I will not have access to my email during this time so I will be answering all emails when I get home on Sunday night. Thank you for your patience. Also, all custom orders that are completed will be mailed out before I leave tomorrow. Thanks!

On a personal note, I want to wish a big Happy Birthday to my sister Sarah (the dazzling model for my opening page slideshow!) She's turning 18 today so the whole family's going out for a snazzy dinner tonight ... and coming home to the delectable chocolate banana cake I baked yesterday! Yummmm...!!! Well, I should be getting on with all the other little things I need to do today that will take up a good chunk of time before I have to get ready for dinner! I hope to see you at the show this weekend if you're in the area! Thanks for checking in everyone! I'll be back early next week!

~Erin

Saturday, March 1st ~ 10:41am ..... NEW items added to Etsy!

Welcome! ... a few things to share with you here today ...
First, congratulations to Carrie S. of Toronto, ON for winning the February draw for free lampwork beads! You can see a photo of the cute "spring-time" beads on my home page. I'll have these beads mailed out to you first thing Monday morning! Thank you to all who voted this month and good luck for the March draw!

Secondly, I wanted to let you all know that I added more great beads to my Etsy shop again! You can view these through my shop page at the top! I hope you like them! Also on my shop page, I've added a great little feature from Etsy; "Why buy handmade?" You can click on the image to read more about how buying handmade items is better than buying mass-produced products, on so many levels! I've taken the handmade pledge ... and if you want to take the pledge too, simply click on the link on my shop page and click on "Pledge Handmade!" to make your statement! It's a great thing to support!

Not much else going on here today so I'm going to wrap up here, get a quick bite to eat and then hit the torch! Happy March everyone and I hope you all have a great weekend! I'll be back again soon. Thanks for stopping by!

~Erin

Thursday, February 28th ~ 7:39pm ..... NEW Gallery "Eye-Candy" Added!

Hey everyone. As promised, I've added an entire page of new gallery photos for you to enjoy! I've received a few emails recently asking me if it's possible to custom order beads that they see in my gallery. The answer...of course you can! As stated on my 'shop' page, anything at all that you see on my site can be custom made to order! Even if you see a particular design that you like, but would like a different shape, size or colour scheme, I can work with you to custom create your lampwork beads exactly the way you would like to have them! All you have to do is inquire by sending me an email via my contact page - it's that easy!

Oh, just a reminder ... tomorrow is the last day of February which means it's the last day to cast your votes on my home page for your chance to win free lampwork beads! Just vote for my site on Top25 and/or Artzee and submit the form to be entered for the draw! I will email the winner on March 1st to get your mailing address, as well as I'll post the winners name and the free beads that you'll be receiving on my website! Good luck and thanks for voting!

I planned on chatting about a bunch of other fun and interesting stuff here today ... but I'll have to hold off until either tomorrow afternoon or the weekend, because I just realized that Survivor is starting in 7 minutes! Sorry, gotta go!

Be back soon!
Take care,

~Erin

Thursday, February 21st ~ 11:36am ..... NEW Auction

Welcome! Just a quick note to say hello and to let you all know that I just listed another fabulous focal bead on eBay! It is the first focal bead I've done in my "Stargazer" series. I'm absolutely falling in love with this new "Spree Lentil" shape I've been playing with for the last little while! It's a perfectly sleek and smooth shape that lays flat and is therefore extremely comfortable on the skin, whether it be used in a necklace design or a chunkier bracelet! I hope you like it! The 5-day auction will end on Tuesday February 26th at 10:50 EST.

Whoa, another chilly one here today! It's -8 degrees celcius, but with the wind chill it feels more like -15. We have a few more flurries coming our way beginning this evening, but I'll most likely be way too into Survivor to notice! Speaking of chilly ... I nearly froze to death last night due to my fascination with the rare lunar eclipse we saw here! I stood outside for a good chunk of time, watching the moon slowly disappear, all the while wondering how many other people around the world were standing there looking up at the exact same thing! It really is a fascinating concept to think about! Though they're not all that clear, I managed to snap some photos of the eclipse, seeing as the next lunar eclipse is thought to happen in late 2010. I guess my "Stargazer" focal bead was fitting today!

Thanks for checking in! I'll be back next week with more additions to the gallery (well that's what I'm aiming for at least!) Have a good weekend!

~Erin

Sunday, February 17th ~ 6:54pm ..... NEW items on Etsy & a new eBay auction listed!

Hi there! Just a quick update to let you all know that I added a bunch of really great beads to my Etsy shop! You can check out all the new items on my shop page. Also, for the first time in a long while, I'm excited to offer an eBay auction up for grabs! It's a focal bead that was created using a more organic style of mine! The auction runs for 5 days, ending on February 22nd at 6:26 EST. Please check it out ... I hope you like it!

No other real news here today. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend and for those of you celebrating the new "Family Day" holiday tomorrow, enjoy the time with your loved ones! Thanks for stopping by and I'll be back again soon.

~Erin

Thursday, February 7th ~ 12:41am

Well, we certainly got quite the dumping of the fluffy white stuff last night, only it wasn't so light and fluffy! It was firmly packed snow solidly encased with ice, or so it seemed. When you start off your day having to spend twenty-five minutes scraping and shovelling to free your car from your driveway, and then another ten minutes trying to unlock the door at the office with the iced-over key hole, let's just say it put me in a "not-so-nice" mood ... but nothing that a frothy hot chocolate at 9am couldn't of cured! Once my work day was over and the initial annoyance wore off, it was actually kind of pretty! With the sun setting around 5pm, the ground glistened and there was a pleasant chill in the air, a refreshing one. My sister and I decided to take a walk through the park to enjoy the scenery! After approximately thirty minutes, and with the sun now lowered behind the trees, my thighs were numb and it wasn't so pleasant anymore! But we did manage to snap a few good photos! With more snow on the way over the next few days, I'll most likely be spending my weekend inside, keeping warm by the torch!

As promised, I've added a second page to the gallery! I still have a big 'ol bowl of beads that I need to clean and photograph, so even more "eye-candy" will be added in the next couple of weeks! Speaking of "eye-candy", if any of you have bought my lampwork beads and made any kind of jewelry at all, please send me a photo of your finished piece, I'd love to add more "eye-candy" inspiration to my brand new Customer Gallery page as well!

Anyway, it's getting late and I'm getting anxious to climb into my warm bed (I got a heater blanket for Christmas!) I'll most likely read for a little while before falling asleep, and then it'll be a new day tomorrow. I'd like to get a fairly early start at the torch tomorrow, while keeping enough energy to be able to hit the treadmill for at least sixty minutes (I know, I know, wishful thinking ... ok, at least forty minutes)! Hope the weather is treating you right, and if not, hopefully the colourful additions to the gallery will brighten your day! Enjoy! Thanks for stopping by.

~ Erin

Monday, February 4th ~ 1:09pm

Welcome to my new website! For those of you who have browsed through my website before, there isn't too much that has changed in the sense of navigation ... it's just an entirely updated look and feel which I hope you enjoy! I put a lot of thought and planning into my new site hoping that, aside from being brighter, bolder, and hopefully more appealing to browse through, my intention was to increase the quality of the site by creating faster loading images in my gallery, more venues for selling my work and an overall easier method to navigate the website! I'd love to hear from you regarding anything at all about my new site that you particulary like, don't like, any thoughts or comments (good or bad!) ... anything you'd like to share with me is greatly appreciated! As stated on the home page, some pages within my site I will continue to work on. I have a ton more photos to add to my gallery page! I will be setting up a couple more online shops with JustBeads.com and Cafépress.com (you can look forward to these in the coming 2-3 months ~ I hope!) I will be adding more items to my Etsy shop next month! ... and last but not least, I will be adding a new section for Custom Wedding Jewelry (hopefully just in time for the ever-popular summer-season weddings!)

I'm excited to offer some brand new things here on my new website:

  • Customer Gallery (an entire gallery dedicated to my customers' designs using my handmade lampwork glass beads!)
  • FREE lampwork bead(s) giveaways each month! (Enter to win here!)
  • Portfolio of finished lampwork jewelry.
  • Media (an up-to-date list of my publications/recognition).
  • Skill (an up-to-date list of any courses I have taken to develop/enhance my lampworking skills).
  • Associations (a thumbnail gallery of all organizations, groups, shops and websites that I belong to).
  • Mailing list sign-up (you can fill out the form on the home page to sign up for my e-mail newsletter to keep you up to date!)
  • Contact form (an easy-to-use form for emailing any inquires to me).
  • What is Lampwork? (Educate yourself on the art of lampworking).

Aside from spending hours upon hours on re-building my new website, I've also been busy at the torch preparing for next month's Canadian Bead Oasis Spring show, working on my custom orders for both jewelry designers and a bride-to-be (and her entire wedding party!) Note: All current orders will be shipped by the end of next weekend. Thank you. Other than that, not much else going on here ... so for those of you wondering why my last update was over a month ago, now you know what I've been up to!

On a personal note, still no firm date set for my wedding, but Jay and I have sat down and discussed our timeframe and financial goals ... so with at least a firm timeframe in mind, I'm getting more and more excited for the big day! I'm also excited and proud to say that I've started down the road on tackling the ever-popular New Years weight loss/healthy lifestyle resolution! I've lost 30 pounds and feel more motivated than ever to keep on track! (It's the thought of feeling beautiful on my wedding day that's doing it for me!) Wish me luck ... and if you're in the same boat out there, just know that you're not alone! An excellent motivator that I'd like to recommend is Bob Greene's Best Life Diet book! It's a great read for encouragement and education and has fantasic recipes that are easy to make and taste delicious!

Well, that's it for now. I'm off to the torch to play with some new colours of glass that I just got! I'll be back again soon with another update and additions to the gallery, as promised! Thanks for checking in and I hope you enjoy my new website!

~Erin
